It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ernest E. Prechtel Sr. in Birdseye, Indiana, who passed away on May 25, 2023, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Prechtel and Mary Prechtel (Hentrup); his wife Monica (Collignon); his son Ernie Prechtel Jr.; and his siblings, Richard, Nettie Knies, Jenny Miller, Sylvester, Emil and Denis Prechtel.
He is survived by: his children, Mona Gunn of Mariah Hill and Monty Prechtel (Jane) of Birdseye; and his grandchildren, Travis Hoffman (Tiffany), Kelsey Merkel (Quintin), Ross Hoffman (Kandice), Keenan Prechtel (Kirsten), Kamon Prechtel (Hailie), Taylor Prechtel, Taryn Prechtel, Sydney Gunn and Cade Prechtel. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Sacred Heart Cemetery Fund or The Sisters of Saint Benedict.
