He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Rich and Goldie Rich (Strahm); his former wife Bonnie Howard; his wife Coleen Sprunger; his son John Rich; and his siblings, Irene Zimmerman, Harriet Yoder and Dale Rich.
He is survived by: his children, James Rich of Berne, Indiana, Harry Rich (Nelda) of Bluffton, Indiana, Mary VanCleave of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Betty Menzie (Jim) of Fort Wayne, Indiana; his grandchildren, Doug Rich (Julie), Shane Rich (Tina), Angi Pempsell (Charlie), Tom Bond (Christine), Judi Bond (David Quinn), Kara Peters (Brad), Kristin Crull (JR), Courtney Sanders (Chris), Ashton Spitnale (Josh) and Shelbi Caldwell (Ethan); and his great grandchildren, Tyler, Makenzie, Keegan, Peyton, Cynthia, Dustin, Acacia, Jaden, Rilley, Nicholas, Alex, Sophia, Cadie, Emma, Allison, Avery, Austin, Lilly, Paul, Hudson, Adrian, Joel, Ellie and Canyon. He is also survived by nine great-great-grandchildren.
Preferred memorials are to the American Alzheimer's Association or Grace Bible Church.
