She was predeceased by: her parents, Elbert Vanderpool, Sr. and Evelyn Vanderpool (Elswick); and her siblings, Diane, Darlene, Faye, Emma and Elbert Jr..

She is survived by: her son John Hinds; her siblings, James Vanderpool of Indiana, Luther Vanderpool of Indiana, Allen Vanderpool of Kentucky, Teresa Williams of Ohio and Novella McGuire of Florida; and her nieces, Angela Bennett and Sherrie Rose (Michael).
