Rebekah Ella Ryan Obituary

Rebekah Ella (Foddrill) Ryan, 92, of Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Westview Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born September 12, 1930, she was the daughter of Clifford Ermal Foddrill and Elizabeth (Betty) Katherine Wilson. She married Dr. John (Jack) Edward Patrick Ryan on February 15, 1958 and he preceded her in death on September 24, 1991.

Sister Becky was a graduate of Martinsville High School and attended Resurrection Life Ministries in Mitchell. She and Jack were known all over the United States for their ministry across the country. Becky's Place Women's Shelter was named in honor of her. Sister Becky's legacy will carry on through many generations.

Sister Becky is survived by her son, John Ryan and his wife Ella; her two daughters, Shaunna Deckard and husband Richard, and Elizabeth Hatfield and husband David; seven grandchildren: Jacob Deckard and wife Heidi, Joseph Deckard and wife Dawn, Kathryan Deckard, Tabatha Tillett and husband Michael, Alicia (Chad Super) Ryan, Beth Thorne and husband Martin, and Leah Hatfield; 10 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Foddrill and Rita Foddrill; and five nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her true love, Dr. Jack Ryan; son, Michael T. "Golden Nugget" Ryan; three brothers: Jack "Gentleman" Foddrill and wife Catherine, Sam "Hero" Foddrill and Larry "Baby" Foddrill.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 10:00am at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford with Pastors Johnny Herald and Teddy Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Owensburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00pm on Friday at Ferguson-Lee Chapel.

Flowers at a funeral meant a lot to Sister Becky. She was old school and and we will honor that.
