He was predeceased by: his parents, Arlie Dowling and Elsie Dowling; his parents-in-law, Charles and Anne Ragsdale; and his brother Carl "Sparky" Dowling.
He is survived by: his wife Susan Duncan Dowling; his children, Doug Dowling (Sandra), Chris Dowling (Angela), Melissa Brown (Stacy), Tabitha Gabhart and Dustin Gabhart; his sister Myrtle Turner; his siblings-in-law, Harry Scott Duncan (Dee), Stephen Duncan and Lori Ellett; and his grandchildren, Emma Collingsworth (Jason), Jerrica Dowling-Spencer (David), Derek Dowling (Ashley), Evan Sipes (Jamie), Tyler Dowling (Courtney), Gage Gabhart, Lillianne Holmes, Brooklyn Brown, Ashleigh White, Niki Ashcraft, Greta Gabhart, Maddie, Alicesan, Waylon, Ember, Millie, Ryan William, Remington and Koltan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
