He was predeceased by: his parents, Marshall Hillenburg and Eva Hillenburg (Prince); his daughter Carla Hakes; and his siblings, Waneeta Kinser, Willard Hillenburg, Lloyd Hillenburg and Wanda Chandler.
He is survived by: his wife Lois Hillenburg of Bedford; his children, Pam Vaughn (David) of Delta, CO and Dennis Hillenburg of Bloomington; his grandchildren, Michael Vaughn (Danielle), Brandon Hillenburg (Crystal) and Summer Thomas (Dave); his great grandchildren, Addison, Ella, Meadow, Joshua and Alexis; and his sister Laverne Martindale of Indianapolis.
