He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace William and Minnie Faye Yates (Hudson); his wife Mary Alice Smith; his son Tod Yates; and his sisters, Dorothy Chapman, Roberta Smith and Shirley Shenan.
He is survived by: his sons, Rob Yates (Carla) of Bedford and Darren Yates (Ann) of Bedford; his grandchildren, Jordan, Craig, Chandler Yates, Hannah Carrico (Bradley), Megan Bohling (John) and Matthew Yates; his great grandchildren, Cordan Short, Brienne, Bryce Carrico, Ava and Blair Bohling; his stepgrandchildren, Kali Wigley (Kyle) and Jodi McCain; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, McKenzie, Keetan, Kogen, Kixton, Kove, Kavin Wigley, Jaycelyn and Jaydelyn McCain.
