He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father James Houston Hanners; his former wife Martha Kirkman; his wife Martha Hanners of Bedford; his daughter Shelly (Robbie); his grandchild Zach (Elizabeth); his great grandchild Kinsley Ikerd of Colton; his mother Wilma Baxter of Bedford; his brother Steve Hanners (Brenda) of Bloomington; his half-siblings, James "Bo" Hanners, Jamie Hanners and Lori Hanners-Moore; his grandson Trey Ikerd; and his half-sister Lynn Preece.
