He was predeceased by: his parents, Oman Carl and Anna Marguerite Nelson (Robbins); his spouse Catheleen Cheek; his daughter Sandra Leigh Nelson; and his son-in-law Sgt. Steve Axsom.
He is survived by: his children, Connie Elaine Nelson (Terry Waldon) of Bloomington, Sherri Lynn Nelson of Jasper and Oman Lee Nelson (Madelyn) of Springville; his grandchildren, Christopher Nelson (Lauren) of Bedford, Jordan Manning (Angel) of Bedford, Austin Manning of Bedford, Brady Manion of Bedford and Amy Hewitt (Lane) of Mitchell; and his great grandchildren, Caitlyn Hewitt, Alexis, Gabriel, Hattie Nelson, Hadley and Lincoln Manning.
The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the Oolitic Baptist Church or Oolitic Kiwanis Club.
