He was predeceased by: his parents, George Leon and Annie Catherine Phillips (Smith); his wife Clara K. Phillips (Holcomb); and his siblings, Ethel Salyers, Juanita Cooper, Barbara Mitchell, Clarence and Dennis Phillips.
He is survived by: his children, Brenda Malott (David Fikes), Damon Phillips (Mary) and John Phillips; his grandchildren, Carrie, Stacey, Jennifer, Megan, David, Chris and Beth; and his sister Celia Conner. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.
