He was predeceased by: his father Doyle W. Gilstrap; his wife Ivyl Lucille Gilstrap; his son Joseph Gilstrap; his stepdaughter LuAnn Phillips; and his siblings, Harold "Monk" Gilstrap and Gloria Padgett.
He is survived by: his children, Donald II, Susan, Winton, Richard, Melinda, David, Julia and John; his stepchildren, Vicki Windmiller (Larry), Donna Wendling (Hal), Denise Haulk (Raymond), Roger Gibson (Loretta) and Rob Gibson (Michelle); his son-in-law Rich Phillips (Kim); and his sisters, Anna Farris and Helen Johnson (Pete). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
