He is survived by: his wife Carole Pemberton of Avon; his children, Michelle Pemberton (Ross Montgomery) of Indianapolis and John Pemberton Jr. of Speedway; and his sisters, Tonda Curry Curry (late George) of Chicago and Sally Irwin (Sam) of Mars Hill.
