He was predeceased by: his parents, Alonzo Heath and Cora Heath (Black). He is survived by: his pet Winston; his wife Rose Walters; and his children, Anne Shelton (Joe), James Walters Jr., Patrick Walters (Barbara), Christine Smith (Al) and Anthony Walters (Linda). He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Alzheimer's Association http://www.alz.org or http://www.indyhumane.org.
