He was predeceased by: his parents, Alice Lucille and Fred Robert Shafer. He is survived by: his wife Claudette Shafer (Finley); his children, Mandy Smyth (Danny), Melissa Teal (Scott) and John Shafer; his granddaughters, Abigail Bruce (Jake), Sydney Carillo (John), Allison Fortenberry (Caleb) and Reilly Teal; and his great grandchildren, Levi Bruce and Graham Fortenberry.
