He was predeceased by: his parents, Gordon H. Burkhart and Edna V. Burkhart (Bollinger); and his siblings, Howard Burkhart, Robert Burkhart, Harry Bollinger, Dorothy Hanni and Rosella Steffen.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Garwood of Avilla, Indiana; his sons, Bradley Burkhart (Cindy) of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Jeffrey A. Burkhart (Samantha) of Homer Glen, Illinois; his sister Helen B. Cook of Decatur, Indiana; his grandchildren, Jared, Jordan, Jacob, Madison and Kendall; and his great grandchild Carson.
