It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John David Schermerhorn of Avilla, Indiana, born in Kendallville, Indiana, who passed away on November 3, 2024, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John H. Schermerhorn and Mary Amelia Schermerhorn (Gilbert); and his great grandchild Alivea Lynne Kurtz. He is survived by: his wife Sue Ann Frances; and his children, Suzi (Dan March), Shari (Steve Bittles), David (Stacey Schermerhorn), Sandi (Todd Fortman), Jill Schermerhorn (Bruce Fuhrer), John (Rhonda Schermerhorn) and Jeff (Jenny Schermerhorn).
Visitation was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hite Funeral Home (403 S Main St, Kendallville, IN 46755). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Orange Cemetery North (N 175 E, Rome City, IN 46784).
