He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Smith and Ruby May Smith (Haddix); his wife Carol Smith; his granddaughter Morgan Coomer; and his siblings, Toye Grigsby, Pearl Hobbs, Evalee Gibbs, Juanita Johnson, Alberta Smith, James Seburn Smith, Hoover Smith, James H. Smith and Baby.
He is survived by: his children, Robin Smith Coomer and John Steven Smith. He is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
