He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Laehr and Beverly Laehr; his son Carl Laehr; his parents-in-law, Fred and Josephine Orthey; and his siblings-in-law, Thomas Olson, Barb and Charles Valukas.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce E. Orthey; his daughters, Jill Gebeck (Steve), Rebecca Kostos (Kevin) and Marci Tenuta (Daniel); his daughter-in-law Erin Laehr; his grandchildren, Kassandra, Samantha (Ty), Kameron, Mehran (Kyle), Cesare, Roman, Josephine, Kayden, Tyson and Madelyn; his sister Melody Olson; and his brother-in-law Bob Orthey (Jody). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 3rd 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Christ Church United (5109 Washington Ave, Racine, WI 53406). A celebration of life was held on Thursday, April 3rd 2025 at 11:30 AM at the same location.
