He was predeceased by: his parents, Norman Houze and Lavonia Houze (Canfield); and his sisters, Sharon Dyer and Doris Kinnett. He is survived by: his wife Carole Houze (Bruns); his daughters, Debbie Kleinholz (Greg) of Missouri and Cindy Houze (Rick Lane) of Dillsboro; his brother Noel Houze of Aurora; his uncle Glenn Canfield (Betty); and his grandchildren, Shelby Kleinholz, Jacob Kleinholz and Layne Dohn.

Memorials may be given in honor of Gaylord to the American Cancer Society or the Wounded Warrior Project.
