He was predeceased by: his parents, George "Russell" Erwin and Blanche M. Erwin (Favourite); and his siblings, Virginia Witte, Georgia Jarrett, Phyllis Lytle, Stanley Erwin and Lyal Erwin.
He is survived by: his wife Sharon K. Erwin of Auburn; his children, Lonnie J. Teeple of Berne, Vonda L. Hershberger (Steve) of Lacy Springs, Janice M. Lanning of Angola, Darlene K. Chapman (Jim) of Huntertown and Lewis Gene Erwin Jr. (Sue) of Pleasant Lake; his grandchildren, Aaron Hershberger, Jeremy Hershberger, Bethany Sweet, Jimmy Chapman, Jaycee Chapman, Dartanyon Chapman, Alyssa Erwin, Nathan Erwin, Zach Teeple, Tabatha Lanning and Caitlin Lanning; his great grandchildren, Wesley and Paisley; and his brother Charles R. Erwin of Columbia City.
Memorials may be directed to the Pleasant Lake Baptist Church.
