He is survived by: his mother Shirley J. Kunce (Ickes); his close friend Dawn Simmons of Auburn; his children, Jamie M. Martinez (John Eckert) of Garrett, Ryan J. Smith of Garrett, Josh L. Newman (Tabitha) of Garrett and Heather M. Newman (Joe Tempel) of Auburn; his grandchildren, Haley M. Simmons, Kolton X. Martinez, Bryan R. Eckert, Chad M. Smith, Audrea M. Newman, Addelyn S. Newman, Kayla Hursey and Karlee Hursey; his great grandchild Leo Atchley; and his siblings, Mary A. Blaskie (Rock) of Kendallville, Kathy M. Birchman (Paul) of Kendallville, Thomas J. Kunce of Decatur and Shar J. Ley (Steve) of Olive Branch, Mississippi. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
