He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard Schmidt and Katherine Schmidt; and his siblings, Thomas Schmidt, Lawrence Schmidt, Edith Mills, Ann O'Brochta and Marie Schmidt.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Schmidt of Auburn; his children, Joe Schmidt (Dave) of Auburn, Jennifer Schmidt of Arlington, VA, Lorie Schmidt of Alexandria, VA, Nancy and Jim Gramentine (Sonja Schmidt) of Lake Worth, FL; his grandchildren, Ben Gramentine, Nate Gramentine, Sam Schmidt, Christopher Schmidt and Nicki Schmidt; his sisters, Thelma Wagner of Northlake, IL, Jean and Dale Fredricks of Lafayette, CA; and his siblings-in-law, Tom O (Brochta) and Mary Schmidt.
Memorial donations may be made to the YMCA of DeKalb County or to the ACD Museum.
