He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman J. Scher and Mary Celeste "Mamie" Scher (Landrigan); his siblings, Catherine Bauer, Virginia Bauer, Patricia Meyer, Mary Juergens, Walter Francis, Thomas and Phillip; and his brothers-in-law, Leonard Bauer, Ronald Bauer and Arthur Meyer.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Ann Kastner; his children, Cynthia Dailey (Thomas) of Goshen, IN, Michael Scher (Bette), Judith Bigelow (David) and Raymond Scher (Brett); his siblings, Leonard Scher (Janet) and Martha "Mert" Pyle (William) of Huntington; his sister-in-law Joan Scher of Roanoke, IN; his grandchildren, Matthew Johnson (Erin), Sarah Johnson, Paul Johnson, Eric Scher, Andrew Scher, Spencer Jones, Cole Jones, Brandon Bigelow, Megan Bigelow, Nicklaus Scher and Meredith Scher; and his great grandchildren, Eleanor and Claire Johnson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
