He was predeceased by: his parents, Lyle T. Ward and Mary B. Ward (Brown); his sibling Richard L.; his sister-in-law Janet S. Smitherman; and his grandson Zachary J. Novak.
He is survived by: his wife Ellen M. Ward (Spall); his daughters, Debra D. Berry (Ervin) and Misty L. Novak (Dan); his brother Jack T. Ward (Billie Jean); his grandchildren, David B. Sturgeon of Muncie, Joel N. Novak (Hillary) of Anderson, Brytni L. Hessler (Jason) of Pendleton and Stephen R. Berry (Leah) of Lapel; and his great grandchildren, Chloe, Camden, Lily, Kendall, Connor, Ethan, Gage, Asher and Savannah. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Zachary J. Novak Memorial Scholarship at Anderson University or Anderson Education Foundation.
