He was predeceased by: his parents, Wayne Hughes and Bessie Hughes (McElfresh); his wife Edna Hughes (Couch); his children, Karen Hook and Michael Hughes; his siblings, Helen McDonald, Nelle Mosier, Raymond Hughes and Clara Richman; and his grandson Aaron David Purciful.
He is survived by: his children, David Hughes of Anderson, Rhonda Garringer (Rex) of Anderson and Sharla Purciful (Jay) of Tennessee; his daughter-in-law Linda Hughes of Hot Springs, Arkansas; and his siblings, Evelyn Hight of Bradenton, FL, Janet Stanley of Bradenton, FL, Marilyn Preston of Bradenton, FL, Jack Hughes of Kansas and Victoria Kester of Ormond Beach, FL. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
