He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Short and Lena Short (Seidler); his brothers, Bob and Ralph Short; and his son-in-law Evan Reas.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia Manley; his children, Kristine Matel (Michael) of Indianapolis, IN, Sheri Weber (Gerry) of Winchester, MA, Sue Reas of Noblesville, IN, Jim Short (Marnie) of Venice, FL, Michelle Shank (David) of Fishers, IN and Melissa Anderson (Lance) of McCordsville, IN.; his grandchildren, Nick, Sam Matel, Janie, Lucie Weber, Rebecca Krenzke, Samantha Drake, Matthew, Christopher Short, Andrew, Evan, Aaron, Kyle Shank, Bailey Brotzman and Abby Anderson; and his great grandchildren, Lincoln, Jovie and Georgia Krenzke.
