He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Carpenter and Helen Carpenter; his siblings, Tommy Carpenter, Francis Gee Carpenter, Mary Evans and Carolyn Sue Craig; and his close friend Donald Arnold.
He is survived by: his children, Stephanie Durant and Chad Wells (Heather); and his sister Sandy Robinson. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren.
