She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Benefiel and Sarah Benefiel (Bronnenberg); her siblings, Forrest "Ben" Benefiel, James "Artie" Benefiel, Orpha Benefiel and Earl Benefiel; and her sons, Nick Thomas and Steve Newland.

She is survived by: her children, Philip Newland of Anderson, Teresa Klus (Timothy) of Anderson and Cecelia Sue Swails (James) of Greenwood; her grandsons, Todd Swails (Angela), Scott Swails, Ian Newland and Trevor Newland; her great grandchildren, Kirby Swails, Rylie Swails and Madison Swails; and her cousin James "Bucky" Benefiel of Anderson. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be given to American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
