He was predeceased by: his parents, Rosier L. Carter and Auda Mae Carter (Garrett); his son Steven Dewane Carter; his siblings, Agnes Phillips, Cozetta Bilyue, Jo Ann Bilbrey, Trudy McDonald, James Carter and Arlis Carter; and his granddaughter Kachina Carter.

He is survived by: his wife Emily J. Carter (Elpers); his children, Marllon Carter Jr., Lynda Malysa (Steve), Glenda Janine Huffman (Craig), Ronald Jeffrey Carter and Shane Roger Carter (Megan); his daughter-in-law Cindy Carter; his grandchildren, Alexander Carter, Ronald Carter II, Christina Carter, Meliah Wray, Ian Wray, Michael Carter, Matthew Carter, Dainon Wray, Adam Carter, Natalie Wray, Rhori Carter, Noah Carter and Justin Carter; and his stepgrandchildren, Clinton Huffman, Casey Huffman, Jacob Huffman and Zach Huffman. He is also survived by Several great grandchildren and special nieces, nephews and cousins.
