He was predeceased by: his parents, Forrest Hovermale and Doratha Hovermale (Miller); and his wife Dixie Hovermale (Contos). He is survived by: his children, John Armington (Julie), Chad Hovermale (Angela) and Molly Hovermale; his stepdaughters, Heather Ramsey (Daniel) and Ashley Taylor (Brian Fabian); his siblings, Larry Hovermale (Brenda), Don Hovermale and Connie Miles (Larry); his grandchildren, Haley (Cameron), Whitney, Walker, Tessera, Regi, Cora Danae, Samuel, Axel and Ruby; and his great grandchildren, Addyson and Jaxon.

Memorial contributions in Marion's name may be donated to the St. John's Children's Clinic.
