She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Merriman and Mary Rachel Howard (Gordon); her son-in-law Brian Johnston; her grandson Samuel Johnston; and her great grandchild Bennett Gaunt.
She is survived by: her children, Julie Johnston of Anderson, Todd Gaunt of Anderson and Andy Gaunt (April) of Anderson; and her siblings, Nancy Bond (Larry), Tom Howard (Valli) and Marge Howard. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
