He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Backous and Virginia Backous (Geier); his siblings, Paul Backous and Elaine "Twig" Haskett; his great-nephew Jesse Backous; and his great-niece Summer Backous.
He is survived by: his siblings-in-law, Patricia Backous (Sorg) and Robert Haskett of Middletown, IN. He is also survived by five nieces and nephews, four grand nieces and nephews, five great nieces and nephews, many cousins and friends.
