He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar H. Cochran and Agnes R. Cochran (Mattson); his son Bryan Cochran; and his siblings, Gail and Gaun.

He is survived by: his wife Jackie Cochran (Bauer) of Anderson; his sons, John Cochran (Lynn) of Anderson, Robert Cochran (Rosemary) of Fort Wayne and Gary Cochran (Lisa) of Andover, Minnesota; and his grandchildren, Maddie, Ellie, Bianca, Mason and Teddy.
