He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Dabney and Evelyn Dabney (McGehee); and his sister Shirley Phares (Leffler). He is survived by: his wife Shirley Ann Dabney (Pettigrew); and his children, Greg Dabney (Cathy), Jeff Dabney (Wendi), Laura Cunningham (Dabney) and Rebecca Ahmed (Dabney). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Madison County Humane Society.
