He was predeceased by: his wife Anita Lorene Hughes (Jarvis); his parents, Sara Lou Hughes McGraw (Brown) and Jesse Frank Hughes; and his siblings, Nancy Cantor (Conrad), Freida LaVullis (John), Ray Hughes (Sally), Burton Hughes (Marilyn) and Elmer Hughes (Carolyn).
He is survived by: his children, Michael Hughes (Debra Moehlenkamp Hughes), Marlita Hughes Williams (late Ron Williams) and Cheryl Hughes Yattaw (Roger Yattaw); his grandchildren, Kimberly Bennett-Zafiriou (Terry Zafiriou), Victoria Hughes, Tracie Williams and Stacie Williams; his great grandchildren, Ashlyn Bennett, Brandon Bennett, Madison Bennett, Kierstyn McClendon, Bradley McClendon, Dylan Hughes, Isaiah Rodriguez-Hughes, Jeremiah Rodriguez-Hughes, Mikyia Williams, Miy, Anderson, Amaani Welch and Rickie Welch; and his great great grandchild Ja'Sani Smith.
