He was predeceased by: his parents, James Alst and Alma Van Alst (Poer); his brother-in-law Mike Feller; and his father-in-law Jerry Feller. He is survived by: his wife Teri Van Alst; his children, Holli Funk (Josh), Greg Van Alst (Christi) and James "Matt" Van Alst (Kristin); his grandchildren, Hailey, Cadence, Aiden, Eliza, Colton, Levi, Ryder and Easton; his brothers, Bill Van Alst (Kathy), Gerry Van Alst and Jim Van Alst (Cindy); his sister-in-law Sherry Moore (Joe); his mother-in-law Irene Feller; and his friend Toby Jones (Mary).
