He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Richie and Kate "Sissie" Richie (Lovins); his wife Mary E. Richie (Griffey); his daughter Barbara Ellen Frye; and his siblings, Carrie Faucett, Polly Jackson, Rosie Miller, Bessie Gross, John Richie and Henry Richie.
He is survived by: his daughter Betsy Shipley (Bud) of Elwood; his grandchildren, Justin Shipley (Karrie) of Alexandria, Brittany Gregg (Michael) of Elwood and Shannon Frye of Alexandria; and his great grandchildren, Grayson Hunter Gregg, Piper Elizabeth Gregg, Destiny Nicole Frye and Oakley Heinz Gregg.
