He was predeceased by: his parents, William Montgomery and Mary Montgomery; his wife Sharon L. Montgomery; his son Gary Lee Montgomery; and his siblings, David, James, William Sr. Montgomery and Mary J. Myers.

He is survived by: his son Erik Montgomery (Rebecca); his daughter-in-law Courtney McCowan (Matt); his grandchildren, Dakota Redman, Abigail, Katlin, Erik, Brayden Montgomery, Wyatt and Colton Day; his great grandchild Bracken Redman; and his sister Betty Dietzel of Georgia.
