It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charles Richard Gates (Alexandria, Indiana), born in Charleston, West Virginia, who passed away on January 3, 2020, at the age of 72, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles R. Gates and Alma Laura Johnson (Pritt); his siblings, Fred Gates, Shirley Stapleton and Barbara Brake; and his grandson Toby Baker.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Joyce Gates (Knapp) of Alexandria; his children, Roderick Gates (Amy) and Sarah Haley (Robert); his sister Judy Davis (Wayne); his sister-in-law Glenda Gates; and his grandchildren, Jacob, Brenna, Lily, Ben and Evan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be given to Alexandria First Baptist Church Building Fund.
