He was predeceased by: his daughter Amy Martinez; his great grandchild Ivan Esparza; and his siblings, Bob Richards and Mary Lou Workman. He is survived by: his wife Elisha Richards of Albion, Indiana; his children, David DePew (Tabatha) of Kendallville, Angela Hall (Gregory) of Butler, Erin Richards of Fort Wayne and R. J. Richards Jr. of Albion, Indiana; and his brothers, Roger Richards of Columbia City, Rex Richards (Laura) of Elkhart and Ron Richards of Kendallville, Indiana. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
