He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank J. and Mary E. Schmidt (Carpenter); his wife Vee Ann Schmidt; and his brothers, Kenneth and Robert.
He is survived by: his sister Georgia; his son Michael Schmidt of Raleigh, NC; his stepdaughter Mary Carter; and his stepgranddaughter Madalyn Milner.
