He was predeceased by: his wife Martha "Kitty" Cowgill; his great grandchild Aubrey Jane Hammond; his parents, Parker Cowgill and Mary Starr (Maynard); and his siblings, Charles Cowgill, Robert Cowgill, Phillip Cowgill and Mary Esther.

He is survived by: his children, Jerry Cowgill, Donna Cowgill, Brenda Clossen and Deborah "Debbie" Myers; and his grandchildren, Lana, Tabitha, Dustin and Jeremy. He is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren; nieces, and nephews.
