He was predeceased by: his mother Carolyn Sue Axsom; and his brother T. G. Melvin. He is survived by: his father Thomas Lee Melvin; his wife Kim Shumate; his children, Timothy Lee Melvin Jr. (Abby), Natasha J. Melvin (Anthony Wells), Samantha Tyann Melvin (Brian Kolep), Brett Dale Melvin and Zach Owens; his grandchildren, Trinity, Conner, Ella, Nolan and Karolyne; and his siblings, Michael Melvin (Tammy), Cyndy, Michelle Laflen (Dave) and Nikki Melvin. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
