With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Edgar J. Metzler formerly of Akron, Indiana, born in Masontown, Pennsylvania, who passed away on May 12, 2021. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Alta Mae and A. J. Metzler (Abram Jacob); his wife Ethel Yake; his sister Dorothy; his children, Michael and Mary Martha (Gordon Prieb); his grandson Eli Metzler-Prieb; his sons, Peter (Kathryn Rowedder) and Philip (Sandra Anstaett); his grandchildren, Noah, Christopher and Rachel; and his siblings, Carl (Doris Gunden), Jay (Jill Lalko), Joyce Hostetler (Jep) and Alice Roth (Willard).
Although Ed experienced debilitating limitations in his last years, he lived with passionate self-determination, expressing with his indomitable spirit, "I may have Parkinson's, but it doesn't have me!".
