With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Johnnie Lee Lay Sr. of Zion, Illinois, who passed away on March 9, 2024 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Lela Mae Lay and Otis Brown; his grandparents, Bertha Lay and Dock; and his siblings, Erie Buckley (Andrew), Vivian Woods (George), Earlie Jemison (Linda) and Sydney Lay.

He is survived by: his grandchildren, Brittany, Johnathan, JeaDa, Jonah, Joshua, Jacob, Jackson, Jayden, Jasmine, Maureen and Jace; his great grandchildren, Amarri, Amelio and Zayier; his wife Jeanette Lay; and his siblings, Rosie Williams (Richard), Larry Jemison (Theresa) and Raymond Jemison (Viola). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
