Elizabeth E. Way Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elizabeth E. Way of Yates City, Illinois, who passed away on March 16, 2024, at the age of 100, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Lewis Sherman and Lorraine Sherman (Housman); her husband George H. Way; her siblings, William, Bernard, Howard, Richard Sherman and Ruth Ann Harlan; and her sons-in-law, Jim McElrea and Gerald Pica (Duane Wasson).
She is survived by: her daughters, Joyce Pica (late Gerald) of Abingdon, Joann McElrea (Andy Ortery) of Lake Bracken and Jean Ann McCurry (Mark) of Abingdon; and her grandchildren, Kimera Padilla (Richard), Tolan Pica (Kym Tiffany), Kristan Pica (David Nelson), Kindra Derry (Shawn Mazander), Sean McElrea (Jackie), Shane McElrea, Joshua McElrea (Carrie), Megan Brown (Jared), Tyler McCurry (Katie) and Laurel Hall (Evan). She is also survived by twenty-six great grandchildren and twenty-three great great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Abingdon United Methodist Church or to the Cupboard and the Closet c/o the Abingdon United Methodist Church in Betty's name.
