He was predeceased by: his father Kenneth Smith; and his uncle Clarence. He is survived by: his mother Elaine McKinney; his children, Kelly Ruehl (Rob) of Worden and Kyle Smith of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; his grandchildren, Maddox, Derek, Brenna and Presley; his siblings, Christine (David), Karen (Bill), Scott (Virginia) and Laurie; his aunt Jan Smith; and his cousins, Shelly, Gregg, Scot (Connie), Grace, Claire and Benjamin. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
