He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Schauer and Marge Schauer; and his son Christopher Schauer. He is survived by: his wife Sharon; his daughters, Jackie (Schauer), Tricia (Schauer) and Penn (Bob); his grandchildren, Jacob Hale, Grace Hale, Jack Shanklin and Colin Shanklin; his sister Sue Koeser (David); and his niece Jennifer Koeser.

In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital and St. Vincent de Paul, a worldwide organization of Catholic men and women volunteering to help those in need – spiritually, economically, and emotionally.
