He was predeceased by: his parents, Gertrude Klaus (Wolff) and Gary Emil Klaus Sr.. He is survived by: his spouse Darcy Stone of Crest Hill, Illinois; his daughter Alison Klaus (Nick Moscatello) of Bloomingdale, Illinois; his siblings, Cynthia Stutz (David) of Lemont, Illinois and Mark Sala (Julie) of Mokena, Illinois; and his grandchildren, Corey Klaus and Morgan Stafford. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Gilbert Memorial Foundation, also known as, Sgt. Tommy's Kids. Sgt. Tommy's Kids is a nonprofit organization striving to promote youth appreciation and education of the outdoors, a local foundation located in Downers Grove, Illinois.
