He was predeceased by: his parents, Shirley Arnold Dowdy and Ruby Pearl Kearney; his sisters, Margaret Hunt (Peggy) and Laura Maxine Dowdy; and his sister-in-law Jana Dowdy.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy E. Dowdy (Newell) of Woodlawn, IL; his sons, Tim Dowdy (Kristie) of Indianapolis, IN, Bruce Dowdy (Jackie) of Stonington, IL and Jared Dowdy (Sarah Richardson) of Dix, IL; his grandsons, Matt, Austin, Tyler, Caleb and Will Dowdy; his siblings, Larry R. Dowdy and Gloria Budd (Larry) of Taylorville, IL; and his sister-in-law Sandra Presswood (Tom Shurtz) of Mt. Vernon, IL..
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Roger's name to either the Wounded Warrior Project or The American Cancer Society for Prostate Cancer Research.
